Young Mac

Young Mac is settling in, missing family a bit but really enjoying his new raw diet. He is a really good natured dog, happy around live stock, loves people and will find a canine friend hopefully in this rescue tomorrow. This pup is going to do so well.

What a star!! Under 12 months, great temperament but for genuine reasons could not stay in the home. Isn’t he fabulous?

We will tell you more about this lovely boy once he has settled in.

Ella

Ella is a 4 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has been with us a while.

Ella is a high energy dog, affectionate, but in need of firm boundaries. She is reactive to unknown dogs, but can make dog friends.

ELLA’S REQUIREMENTS;

  • A breed experienced home.
  • She cannot live with cats or children.
  • Exercise on lead only.

Tommy

Despite the fact that he arrived in a dreadful state, he became an absolutely wonderful dog whilst he was in here and taught Beryl how to do “dogs” which she didn’t know how to do before he arrived.

Tommy now lives in an extended family in Plymouth and he is Buster’s best mate.

______________________________________________________

This boy came in from the police on Jan 8th, very under weight, terrified, untrusting of people and willing to bite if he had to.

He has blossomed into a sweet natured, happy dog. Friendly chap, who now thinks humans might be OK.

Dogs are amazing. He loves cuddles from me and is fast learning to trust strangers.

Tommy needs time for company and space. He’s a big boy. Loyal and gentle, and is totally dog and cat friendly.

The boy is now doing brilliantly – so much so, I need to watch his weight!

Tommy is a very balanced, chilled staffie, 3yrs, neutered. He loves attention, is polite and sociable with other dogs and smiles all the time.

Share this lovely boy for his future.

Mia

This is Mia, an 8 year old Border Collie that was taken to the vets for destruction as owner going abroad. She is currently in foster and in our care.

Mia is sweet with people, extremely obedient, loves human company and will make a great companion. She is obese and on a weight loss programme. Mia is excellent in the house, can be left and does not destroy.

She is however unsocialised with dogs and reacts on the lead. Mia does not like passing other dogs on lead but she does so without too much fuss when asked. We are muzzle training and will begin the process of teaching her to accept the proximity of other dogs at a distance.

Experienced owner and ‘only animal’ home required for Mia. She has a lot to give and will make a great companion.

Mia needs to be an only dog and not living in town where she will constantly come across other dogs. Although eight years old she is quite strong.

Please share our girl for her home, she doesn’t ask for much and gives so much in return.

Dexter

Dexter arrived at 12 months with extreme behavioural problems and, wonderfully, he is now successfully placed in a home that completely understands his needs.

___________________________

Dexter would love to be your wet nose Wednesday. He is our foster dog who is now ready for his forever home through Devon Dog Behaviour Rehab and Rehome.

Dexter is a little over two years old and a first cross Border Collie Labrador. He is a very special boy who has already been on a long journey.

We are trying to get him out to the public eye to find his home.

Dex joined us a little over a year ago. he had trust issues with humans, ran out of the room if you rustled a newspaper and could not cope with people approaching him to show affection. He also lacked social skills with dogs and got very anxious travelling in a car.

Dexter has spent his time with us in foster with two adults and two other dogs. His foster carers have had dogs before but they are by no means professional – an ordinary home where Dexter has learnt to trust, play with other dogs and travel calmly in a car. It has taken patience and time to help this boy to trust people again and cope with their unpredictable ways, but he has come so far.

This boy is affectionate and intelligent. He has excelled at trick training classes and still enjoys agility. Now he needs a permanent home where he can thrive and build on what he has learned. He needs a confident, experienced, adult home, ideally with another dog. Please share this boy on every page you can think of. He is so deserving and gives the utmost loyalty to his family.

Young Ronnie

Young Ronnie is settling in well, as you might imagine after a week alone he is anxious and on the go. Had a job to get a pic at all but he is sweet, affectionate and keen to please.

Also a really sweet natured little Staffy. 18 months old.

Happy to report that young Ronnie has left us for his new home.

He is much loved and has finally found someone who will look after him in the way he deserves.

Everyone who meets this lovely and previously neglected boy, is charmed by him. He is a pocket sized little Staffie with a big heart!

Good luck, Ronnie!

Neville

Neville has now found his new forever home.

Neville is a very sweet natured Bull breed cross, brilliant with all people and children, a perfect companion, gentle and loving.

Neville will happily walk past dogs on lead but cannot cope if they rush up to him – he was frightened early on and will defend himself. He needs to be an only dog.

Megan

After two long years with me, Megan has landed on her paws! She lives on the Moors and has her very own person who is a gardener and she spends her days out and about and having a wonderful life.

_______________________________________________

Megan is the most loving, gentle Staffy, come to us from a poor background, but so gentle with people you would never know.

She is around five yrs and also needs to be an only dog, no cats. Megan lives to chase her ball and have cuddles from her humans. She will happily walk in good weather but if it rains she would much prefer to stay in her bed.

Megan does not destroy, can be left for reasonable times and is happy to pass dogs on walks but must be lead walked.

Sweet girl with a lot to give and asks for very little in return, just a cuddle and a ball thrown.

Paddy

Paddy left us for New Hope Animal Sanctuary last year and has since found a new home to call his own.

This is Paddy. He is a 3 yr old male, neutered male Shih Tzu. Paddy is intelligent and likes to play, he is good with other dogs.

An experienced owner is needed as this boy was spoilt and will show low level aggression if not getting his own way. Paddy grew up with young children. This rescue will provide ongoing support to any new owner.

Paddy has learnt a lot in a short time, we now need an owner to help us finish the job.

This is a highly intelligent breed that needs firm boundaries of behaviour. Paddy lacked this and learnt to use aggression against his inexperienced human family when he did not want to do something. He was indulged and allowed to rule the roost.

Paddy has come a very long way with me and is ready for an experienced owner who can continue my work. I will provide behavioural back up as long as necessary.

In the right hands he is a charming, clever little dog. he loves other dogs and walking. Paddy does not need cuddles so if that is what you want, he is not for you.

A proper little character!

Please share for an experienced home. Can live with other dogs.

Kaiser

We are seeking a special home for Kaiser. He is a 6 yr old neutered male. Kaiser is good with everything and everyone, a really steady, well-mannered boy. He is good with dogs, livestock and people. Well behaved at the vet.

He has however been a bit spoilt in the home and needs an owner who is relatively local (Devon or Cornwall), very experienced in this breed and willing to provide the calm boundaries of behaviour he needs. We as ever will provide back up help.

This boy needs the right home to bring on what is a really lovely dog. He will be a model dog in the right hands – please share for Devon or Cornwall home.

Experienced owners, please.

Daisy

Daisy was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, approximately 4 years old, and neutered.

She came to us as a stray from the pound. She was extremely affectionate with all humans and good with children of all ages. She had obviously been a well loved family member in the past. Daisy loved cuddles, to chase a ball and go for walks.

Unfortunately Daisy had clearly not socialised with other dogs at an early age, and so was walked on lead and muzzled for her safety and that of other dogs.

We found an experienced bull breed owner who adopted Daisy. She will more than return the love she has been given and will be a wonderful family dog.

Bruce

Bruce is a larger than life, full of joy English Bull Terrier.

Due to five years of neglect and a lack of social interaction, Bruce – although full of enthusiasm – lacked the training that a full size adult dog should have received. He was a very special chap who had no concept of his size or strength, and was convinced he was a little pup who needed to sit on your lap and have a hug. At over 40Kg he was a very big baby!

Bruce had no concept that some people or other dogs may not have appreciated his love, and he had bucketfuls of love to share – at full speed and full enthusiasm level.

Because of this he had struggled to find the right home, and had been with us for two years. He was a wonderful chap who needed lots of care!

With the help of Pets at Home, we held a fundraising campaign to build him a home-from-home in the garden of Ruth’s house. His summer house allowed him to slowly integrate into the rest of the house pack and leave behind the relative isolation of kennel life.

We felt extremely privileged to have had such a splendid character in our midst.

Bruce has found his forever home with an amazing local family. The first few nights were a little difficult for a boy who had never properly lived in a home but all has turned out well.

Bruce will however be back to volunteer with his Mum and Dad to walk his mates! This amazing family are not abandoning us but will continue to come and walk the centre dogs.

Buddy

Handsome Buddy, a 12 month old neutered male German Shepherd crossbreed, has found a home.

He was affectionate, fun loving and eager to please.

Buddy needed someone to help him with the basics of obedience training but he walked nicely on lead, was dog friendly, and affectionate towards all humans. This boy has made a wonderful companion for his new family.

Daisy

Daisy is a 10yr old, brindle, neutered, female Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Daisy is doing really well. She has settled down and gained weight. She has a huge affection for people, regardless of eight years of abuse. Dogs are amazing.

She copes well with other dogs when being walked on a lead, but needs to be the only dog at home.

Little Cally

Little Cally was a 6yr old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier seeking a new home through no fault of her own.

She was the sweetest girl, good with dogs and children.

Cally has been re homed with a lovely family in Torquay, where she has another Staffy friend too.

So far she is fitting into her new family well. Keep up the good work girl.

Alfie

For followers of young Alfie, a 15 week old Jack Russell / Yorkshire Terrier crossbreed, he has found himself a fab home with a couple who have all the time to spend and two other JRTs to keep him company.

And the long suffering Cally will not miss young Alfie dive bombing her from the sofa!

Kane

This is Kane. He is a first cross English Bull Terrier/ Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Kane was rescued five years ago by his family and they have waited 10 months for a space with us. Their circumstances did not allow them to keep him but he has been well loved and is a friendly boy.

Kane is a hugely affectionate family dog who loves humans of all ages. He needs to be the only dog in the home – he was bitten as a youngster and is now wary. Kane was helped in his relationship with dogs at the centre.

Maisy

Maisy is a female 18 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

In her first home she lived with young children and another dog, and was never walked. She is extremely submissive and affectionate to all humans and can live with young children.

Maisy has found a lovely and loving home where she will more than repay her new owners with lots of affection!

Murphy

Murphy is a three year old Standard Poodle cross Cocker Spaniel, neutered male.

Murphy has spent most of his life in a loving family living with children and adults. He is a sensitive dog, and due to a couple of unpleasant experiences with other dogs, his confidence took a knock.

Murphy came to us in October 2014 from a family where he was much loved but suffering from fear aggression having been attacked by other dogs. During his stay with us, we rebuilt his confidence in other dogs.

Murphy is now safely and very happily homed. Murphy will stay with his foster family who love him dearly, and where he has a large extended family of eight dogs and many humans of all sizes! Have a great life Murph – you deserve it.

Max

Max is a 2 year old neutered first-cross Border Collie Dalmation.

He is active, intelligent, eager to please, and dog friendly.

Max came to us from another rescue centre where he had been for 14 months. During that time he developed new behavioural issues and they were unable to help him. Max joined us in February 2015, and has now been successfully rehomed following rehabilitation with us.

Max is now enjoying the luxury of 20 acres with his four canine friends and has “adopted” his owner’s adult daughter as his chosen person. He did this with me when he arrived with us – the boy seems to need a hook to hang his hat on. Max is happy, his new owner is even happier and I have no concerns about his future.

Bertie – Jack Russell Terrier

Bertie is a two year old, neutered Jack Russell Terrier. He is well behaved in the home, loves other dogs and is affectionate and good natured.

Bertie has now been happily rehomed. He is well loved and is an affectionate and friendly boy.

Bobby

Bobby is a three year old male, neutered, terrier cross breed.

This dog is highly intelligent, energetic and has a keen sense of fun, usually at your expense!

Bobby has learnt to like dogs while at the centre and would benefit from another dog in the home.

He could live with older children in the household.

If you have what it takes to home this dog, he will absolutely enrich your life.

Momo

Momo is a male, neutered 18 month old Spanish Mastiff crossbreed.

Momo needed a calm, routine life and would benefit from living with a companion dog to continue his learning experience.

Momo was blind – he lost his sight at 3 months of age.

Momo, Spanish, Mastiff, crossbreed, rehoming, adoption

Momo spent 80% of his time with his foster family, which included two dogs and a cat. He began growing into a confident, socialised, well adjusted and loyal dog, able to find his way around easily despite being blind.

Momo navigated his way around the world – in the home and out – with surprising ease, and loved to play on the beach in Paignton with other dogs.

Momo has now found his ‘forever’ home where he can continue his development into a confident and loving dog.

Poppy

Poppy is an affectionate and friendly 3 and half year old female, neutered, Jack Russell Terrier.

She lacked a little confidence out in the world due to previous ownership inconsistencies.

Poppy loved to travel in the car and could be left in the home for reasonable periods. This really was a very sweet little girl who deserved a chance at a new life.

She is now very happily living with another dog in an adult home.

Duke

Duke is 5 year old American Bull Dog cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Through no fault of his own, he had three homes before he came to us, none of which were able to provide this perfectly able and sociable dog with a future.

Duke spent two years in our pack overcoming separation anxiety issues, and has now found the perfect home for him with an extended family of children and dogs, all of whom he loves to be amongst.

He was also a big hit at collecting money, with nobody able to resist his considerable charm and love of life.
