Toby

Toby (Dalmation) came into rescue December 2022 at 12 months of age, having learnt little or nothing in his original home leaving him anxious and unconfident in many situations. He was also unruly and untrained.

He has come on hugely in the rescue, living in the house pack and learning from them. He will need experienced adult owners with the time to continue our basic training with him and ideally but not essentially other balanced dogs.

He is now a calm, polite and friendly neutered dog who will benefit from a life of routine and boundaries.

We seek homes in Devon and Cornwall, home checking and donation will apply.

Annie

Annie is a two-year old Sharpei cross breed. She is a very sweet natured girl, friendly with dogs and people. She is loving and full of life.

We have worked on basic training and although strong on the lead she is a well mannered girl.

Annie likes dogs but can be a bit full on energy wise so she could live with a dog or dogs but it would have to be the right mix. For the same reason, children would need to be older. She has not been cat tested.

This girl is charming and funny, a little clumsy! but well meaning and full of character.

Buddie

Buddie is a lively, eager to please 3 year old Jack Russell crossbreed. He has thrived in rescue, learning to walk nicely on the lead, enjoying a routine and picking up polite manners around dogs by living in our home pack.

We are looking for active owners, who enjoy the outdoors and and will appreciate this happy go lucky friendly chap whilst continuing our training and providing him with the boundaries that any self respecting JRT needs!

Buddie can live with other dogs, he is best not living with cats and any children should be older.

We seek homes in Devon and Cornwall. A less urban situation would suit him best.

Jacey

Jacey loves people and we seek an adult home.

She is affectionate, clever, obedient, and would be best suited to a country life. Jacey grew up on a farm but as a house dog.

Lots of potential in the right hands. Devon and Cornwall homes only. Experience necessary.

Boris

Boris has now found his forever home. He is enjoying lots of walks and play times.

This young boy has just joined us, and we are still learning about him, but he is a sweet boy !

Boris, born on the day the first lockdown was announced, is a 1 year old cross breed.

(German Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, Lurcher, Boxer , Jack Russell Terrier )

We will update as we learn more.

DEVON AND CORNWALL HOME ONLY

Home Check and adoption fee applies.

Bruce

Bruce is now ready to begin the search for his future. He is a 6 yr old Mastiff who has come a long way since his arrival with us.

He had trust issues with humans on arrival and I think it fair to say his life up to now had been unstable. He has relaxed and learnt to follow our lead whilst with us.

We have no history on Bruce at all beyond he was adopted by a local family from the North of England. He proved unsuitable for them.

Bruce needs an adult only, experienced home, willing to train and enforce boundaries we have put in place.

Please read post carefully and only apply if you fit the criteria and have large breed dog experience and training knowledge.

DEVON AND CORNWALL HOME ONLY. Home Check and adoption fee applies.

Flo

Flo has now found her perfect home near the beach and with a child to love !

Flo is a 5 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross Breed.

She is a sweet natured, affectionate girl.

Flo walks nicely on the lead and is well-behaved in the home.

She cannot live with cats.

Flo’s requirements

  • DEVON AND CORNWALL HOME ONLY
  • Flo needs to be exercised on a lead or in a private space.
  • Flo needs an experienced home.
  • She needs an owner who is willing to continue the training we have begun.

Nell

Nell is now living with her new forever loving family.

Nell is a 6 year old Working Strain Springer Spaniel.

She had a very poor start in life, and missed her early learning period.

She can be very affectionate but also needs firm boundaries.

NELL’S REQUIREMENTS

  • DEVON AND CORNWALL HOME ONLY
  • Nell can live with other dogs, preferably male.
  • Nell needs a rural active adult only home.
  • Breed knowledge is essential with this dog as she is a typical worker.
  • Currently off lead exercise needs to be in a secure area.

Sabre

SabreSabre now lives happily with his new family

This is a lovely five yr old boy. By nature he is loyal, obedient and loving. Due to his past life which was not positive he has a couple of quirks which are through no fault of his own and easily managed in the right hands. Sabre will make a loving companion and seeks an adult home with breed experience . More info on application.

Billy

Billy finally found his girl and is enjoying his new life in a great new home.

Billy is a Bull breed cross, neutered 2 yrs. This lad had a very poor start in life and is consequently in need of patience and understanding in his new home. He is loving, wants to trust and will learn. Billy likes other dogs and is kindly and quiet by nature. He seeks a calm home where he can learn to trust as he has with us. Lovely boy just needs a chance.

Lilly

Lilly has moved on to her new home with another dog from the rescue Ty.

Lilly is a two yr old Bull breed cross. She is sweet, sensitive and loving. Lilly will make an ideal companion. She takes time to make dog friends due to early life ill treatment, but once bonded she loves to play.

Lilly has come on hugely in the centre, having started life being exposed to cruelty and abuse. Because of this past, Lilly will not cope in a busy life. She seeks routine, quiet and reassurance from her new owner, but will repay patience and kindness many fold.

lilly 4She is house trained, does not destroy and walks well on lead.

Molly

The lovely Molly is enjoying a new life with her human and dog family.

Have we any Rottweiler fans out there who are experienced large breed owners for our lovely Molly, who is ready to go home and start her new life?

Molly is 18 months, neutered and adores people. She came to us from the police and has bitten but the circumstances were not her fault and she now loves humans more than food! Molly could live with another dog with careful introductions but will need to be walked on lead in public.

Molly is fun loving, affectionate and outgoing, she loves life. This dog puts a smile on my face every day.

Duncan

Duncan has now found his perfect home !

Duncan is a 2 1/2 year old American Bull Dog.

He had a tough start in life, but having spent two years with us he is now a well-balanced and sociable dog.

Duncan is sweet with people, loves dogs and his confidence is now rebuilt. So Duncan is now ready for a new home.

DUNCAN’S REQUIREMENTS

  • DEVON AND CORNWALL HOME ONLY
  • Duncan needs to live with another well-balanced sociable dog.
  • Duncan must be fed a raw diet only.
  • Duncan seeks owners with plenty of time to spend with him.
  • Duncan DOES NOT seek a family with cats and young children.

Roxy Bella

Sadly Roxy Bella passed away recently, but she ended her life in a loving family home.

Roxy Bella is an 11 yr old American Bull Dog crossbreed. She may be a mature girl but is full of life, loves her walks and is affectionate and playful. Roxy is good with all people and can live with another dog or dogs.

This lovely lady came to us as her life long owner could no longer give her the life she deserves, and loved her enough to put her needs first. Roxy is a character, and a lovely family member for any home. Can anybody offer her a retirement? You wont regret it.

Roxy is house trained, walks well on lead, does not destroy and can be left for reasonable amounts of time.

Bruce

The gorgeous Bruce is living a lovely new life with his loving family.

Bruce is three years old. He is selectively good with dogs. He is Lily’s best friend. And he is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

He is charming. He is brilliant with kids and with all people. He is the handsomest thing on four legs that I have seen in a while. He has more charisma in one paw and one claw than most men I ever meet.

House trained, obedient. Medium exercise. He needs to go out every single day, but he’s not keen on running. He likes dogs who like him, so he can’t be immersed in a dog park. Fabulously charming character.

Roxy

Roxy is now happily homed with a family and is settled and well.

Roxy is 7 years old and she is a Staffordshire bull terrier, brindle, neutered female. She is God’s gift to Staffordshire bull terrier owners.

She likes people. She likes dogs. She likes cats. She likes children. She likes everybody.

She has always lived with a female and a male, and has recently lost her female and male siblings, so preferably Roxy would like to live with another dog.

She is sweet-natured, biddable, and affectionate. She is no trouble at all, and we don’t know why she is here?

Bruno

Bruno is a 12 month old neutered, cross breed male. Good with dogs. Affectionate. Needs ongoing training. A project for an experienced owner.

Clever little dog. Willing to learn. Biddable.

Needs time spent on training but will make a fantastic family member for the right family, and I think he needs at least one other dog. No young children.

Cookie

*THIS DOG REQUIRES A VERY SPECIFIC HOME*

Cookie is a 5 year old mastiff cross breed, and needs an adult only home. A large breed VERY experienced home is necessary.

Cookie is affectionate and loyal, but can be stubborn.

COOKIE’S REQUIREMENTS ARE;

  • Experience of dealing with a high guard instinct.
  • Adult only home.
  • No cats.
  • Firm home boundaries.
  • On lead exercise only.
  • A secure garden.

Jake

Jake is one of the dogs who moved on to New Hope Sanctuary last year.

Jake is a 4 year old Labrador cross, neutered. He loves his ball, is affectionate and fun loving.

Likes female dogs but not always as keen on boys. GREAT WITH HORSES, walks well on lead and his recall is excellent.

Jake would love a home where he is outdoors a lot and on the go. A worker! Would suit a rural location for a home.

This boy is brilliant with people. House trained, obedient. Medium exercise. He needs to go out every single day, but he’s not keen on running. Fabulously charming character.

Wally

Wally is a 15 month old Doges de Bordeaux (French Mastiff). He is dog friendly, and is neutered. Came to us from Doges de Bordeaux rescue because he had a few issues due to his earlier upbringing, which didn’t provide him with the right training, so will need a large breed experienced, adult only home.

One with the time and willingness to continue the training that has now been started, in order to bring this big baby up successfully. He is going through training at the moment so he’s learning to be obedient.

Caesar

Caesar left us last year for New Hope Animal Sanctuary and has found a new family to care for him.

Caesar is a 6yr old Boxer. He originally came from Romania but has been with us for a little while so we know him well. This boy is gentle and sweet natured, likes dogs and could live with the right dog family. In his past is I believe, quite a harsh training regime ( he was a show dog ) and he has had to learn to trust human contact.

He has developed into a happy, much more confident boy with us and whilst he is still not happy with people who insist on being overly tactile, he will now come to people on his own terms for attention. His confidence has grown enormously alongside his willingness to trust.

Caesar needs a calm adult home with breed or large breed experience. He walks well on lead and is polite to dogs. This boy deserves his fireside – he has come a long way and is still trusting.

This is a lovely boy who has had a difficult journey but come through

Southwest home only, adoption fee applies.

Luna

Please share the lovely Luna for her new home. Luna is a 4 yr old, English Bull Terrier who has, through no fault of her own bounced around in rescue for a while. She now lives with me and I am seeking an adult, experienced EBT home as an only dog.

Now that the lovely Luna has been with me a while I know her better and have a clearer understanding of her nature and needs. Without a history it is always guess work but I believe she has lived as an only dog, been the centre of attention therefore loves to interact with her humans, and walking has not figured a great deal in her life. I have nicknamed her lazy Luna!

https://www.facebook.com/ruth.owen.9678/videos/10209603644472571/

This dog loves human company, is fun loving, playful and great company. She is a princess, affectionate, playful, stubborn – and seems used to being an only dog. She likes other dogs but does not know how to successfully interact and beyond the initial interest, I think she might well get into trouble. We have gaps in her history so I rule out families with young children.

So, walked on lead, an only dog who wants to be adored and will play with you all day! She is happy when left for reasonable amounts of time. She also hogs the bed! Please share this lovely girl for Bully experienced, adult home in the South West.

Buster

Buster is happily living in Plymouth, leading a very active, much-loved, happy life.

Meet Buster. He is a fabulous pup, 13 months old, neutered, Lab/Staff crossbreed. Buster loves all people and all dogs, he has excellent recall and walks well on the lead. He is active, so seeking an energetic family, but a very sweet boy indeed.

He would like to live with another dog as he can be a bit anxious if left alone, but nothing that cannot be sorted with backup from me. Buster is obedient and very eager to learn. Buster is good with dogs and all people, he still needs some basic training which we are beginning, but a really nice natured boy. Please share him for his new home.

Bear

Meet the lovely Bear who has joined us. He is six years old, a bit of a worrier – carries his teddy everywhere, but he is settling in.

Bear needs lots of reassurance currently but he is finding his feet.

Young Rodney

We have a new family member. Introducing the lovely Rodney.

For those who don’t know about the welfare system for dogs in the UK, it works like this. All stray dogs are picked up by dog wardens. They are taken to a local kennel appointed by the council, which then pays seven days boarding for that stray.

If they are not claimed, and no one saves them, they are then (by law) destroyed. This is happening as a matter of course all over the UK every week. We have wonderful people called pound pullers who have connections with these kennels and visit them regularly to see which dogs are close to their last day. These dogs are known as poundies. Pound pullers do their very best to save lives but sadly so many dogs are bred, sold, bought and discarded in the UK that rescues are overflowing and many dogs do not make it to sanctuary.

One of those pound pullers is Niall Lester of New Hope Rescue – when we have fulfilled our obligations to local dogs that other rescues refuse – we help Niall whenever we can.

Rodney was due to die and Niall shared him amongst trusted rescues hoping for a place.

He is now with us. Rodney is a baby, likely under 12 months. Affectionate, eager to please, likes dogs and entirely house trained. In short a sweetie.

Welcome Rodders!!
